Tombstone House

Installation, 2020

A literal web of family narratives, this installation combines reproductions of family photographs, hand-me-down furniture, and retired household utensils to shape an ambiguous history of my own family as it has been passed down to me through the memories of my grandmothers, aunts and mother. The vacant pockets of threadwork and chair legs leave space for my personal reinterpretation of these passed down narratives, and invite viewers to enter into my elusive, intergeneration story to make sense of their own memories and recognize common, complex spaces all families occupy.
